Holiday Tips & Hints

Flights from the United Kingdom

There's plenty of choice for flights from the UK to Lanzarote. Ryanair now fly to Arrecife from a good selection of airports and Jet2 fly from Belfast, Birmingham, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds-Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle & Stanstead. Finally, TUI and Thomas Cook both appear to cover just about every UK airport. There are also price comparison websites to try as well. Happy huntings!

Ryanair Boarding Passes / Online Check-in

If you're flying with Ryanair and staying for two weeks then you may need to check in for your return journey from within the resort. The Irish Anvil pub in the Punta Limones Centre next to the harbour has 3 internet kiosks and a printer, so you can sort your return passes for not a lot. The food is nice as well.

Flights from Ireland

Ryanair are now flying from Dublin and Shannon since October 2009 and Aer Lingus offer flights from Dublin, Cork and Belfast to Arrecife. We have previously booked direct charter flight seats from Cork, Shannon and Dublin using Holidays Online, who clear seats for most of the charter operators.

Car Hire

We recommend Autoreisen and Cicar / Cabrera Medina as they are usually reasonably priced and we've never had any problems with them. They both have offices in the baggage collection hall at the Airport, and cars are collected and returned in the car park straight across from Arrivals. Pluscar also have reasonable prices but they don't have an office at the airport, but this might suit if you need a car in the resort for a few days. You will need a credit card and a valid driving license to hire.

Transfers

If you don't fancy driving then a transfer to the resort by taxi will cost about €30 each way between 6am-10pm and € 46 if it's late/early. Just grab one outside the airport. We can email instructions for the taxi-driver in spanish if you wish. You can also try transfer operators such as First Minute Travel or Last Minute Travel (seriously). Prices to Playa Blanca are about €115 total for 1 to 4 persons.

Driving

Drive on the right-hand side of the road. Most of the roads are reasonably easy (apart from the road through Femes) and turnings are often made using roundabouts. If in doubt about who has priority, wait and let the other guy go first. Try to avoid driving in flip-flops or any other footware with open heels. Keep to the speed limits at all times and DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE, and if you did have a few, watch out the next morning! We would always recommend you get a taxi home if you are in any doubt as to your condition.

Cameras, Camcorders and Gadgets

Bring your cameras, camcorders and MP3 stuff with you, or buy them at the Airport before you fly. Playa Blanca is a lovely place to visit however there are a significant number of camera / camcorder / electronic goods shops in Playa Blanca village with goods of dubious quality and the phrase buyer beware generally applies.

We can only vouch for FT - Ferreteria Tias and Ferrocur in the zona industrial area but please note these stores are more like B&Q than Currys in terms of content.
